Hello I need urgent help,

I have a minor under the 18 years old, who has a small claims to take to court. I believe he can not go in and represent himself as he is under the legal age, however I know i can as im am 42 years old. How do I go about becoming his next friend? what docs do I need? and where do i obtain them? I am aware and i will take full responsibilty for him.
