Dear sirs,

I wonder if you couls help me with this. My son was stopped by the police and given a ticket for not wearing a seat belt. He never told me and when I found out it was too late to pay the fee, now I am afraid he might be summoned to court. What do I do?

Dear Ms Roberts,


Do not worry about that fine. Many courts hold ‘First Attendance’ meetings in the Provincial Court where you can walk in and meet with a prosecutor to discuss your case or ask for advice. This is the fastest way to resolve your peoblem – ask your son to go to this meeting and tell the prosecutor he agrees to pay the fine. There will be no trial.
