Hi guys,

I wonder if you can help me. The issue is this:

I have some old parking tickets that I haven't paid…it is a long story. They are over 2 years old by now. Can the police track me down and make me pay them?

Dear Morton,


Ticket rule differ by province, but my advice to you is to start paying them off, otherwise you might end up with very high fines eventually. In Alberta if you have an outstanding fine more than a year old you may be registered with the Canada Revenue Agency. In any case, your fines will stay in the computer system and if the police stops you for an offence, you will be charged for old tickets as well.
